Fans of The Big Bang Theory are doing double takes over Simon Helberg’s recent transformation. The 44-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Howard Wolowitz on the hit CBS sitcom, has embraced a dramatically different look since the show ended in 2019.

Helberg, whose recent credits include Young Sheldon, Annette, and Poker Face, sported a clean-shaven look and distinctive hairstyle as Howard throughout the show’s 12-season run. However, he’s now sporting a full beard, surprising fans who are used to his Big Bang Theory appearance.

Social media has been abuzz with comments about Helberg’s new look, with some expressing shock and others praising his “glow-up.” One fan on X (formerly Twitter) remarked on the stark contrast between his appearance on The Big Bang Theory and in the film Annette, which was released shortly after the sitcom concluded. Another commenter pointed out that Helberg wore a wig for much of the series, contributing to the difference in his appearance.

Helberg’s new look was on full display at the recent AMC Networks premiere for Upfront in New York City. He’s not the only Big Bang Theory alum to switch things up; Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper, also surprised fans with a beard after the show’s finale.
