“Wheel of Fortune” Contestant Forgets How to Stage
A “Wheel of Fortune” contestant’s recent game proves that even the brightest minds can sometimes blank under pressure. Mekdes Getahun, a writer, appeared on the show and initially excelled, even winning a trip to the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
However, during the Triple Toss-Up round, Getahun stumbled on a seemingly simple puzzle. Instead of “Singing on a stage,” she guessed “Singing on a table,” a moment she later admitted to having blacked out during.
Despite this blunder, Getahun recovered and made it to the Bonus Round. Choosing the “What Are You Doing” category, she was tasked with solving “R _TI_ING G_IT_R _ _ _RDS.”
Though she correctly guessed the last two words as “guitar chords,” she struggled with the first word, ultimately losing out on an additional $40,000. Instead of “practicing,” she guessed both “straightening” and “stringing.”
Even though she missed the final puzzle, Getahun walked away with $19,500 and a memorable experience. Her game is a reminder that the pressure of being on a game show can sometimes get the better of even the most prepared contestants.
