Bad Olives at Costco? Shopper Warns Others

Additional Coverage:

Costco’s reputation has taken another hit on social media after a customer’s video went viral showcasing a questionable jar of olives. TikTok user Isabella (@maisonisabella) documented her experience, which has racked up over 1.2 million views.

In the video, Isabella opens a jar of Tassos Greek Olive Medley, initially recoiling at the smell. Despite her reservations, she bravely samples a garlic and pimento-stuffed olive, only to quickly spit it out.

“Can olives go bad?” she asks, concerned about potential botulism.

Undeterred, she tries a jalapeno-stuffed olive and another garlic-stuffed olive, experiencing a similar burning sensation and spitting both out. “Is that normal?

It’s literally burning my tongue,” she exclaims. Checking the label, she notes a “best before” date of August 2026, far in the future.

She declares the olives “hazardous.”

This isn’t the first time Costco has faced scrutiny over its food products. Another TikTok user, Gomes Ohana (@gomesohana), recently criticized Kirkland brand applesauce, alleging it caused chronic coughs in her children.

Showing viewers a box of the applesauce, she declares, “I’m feeding them to my pigs now…They’re super moldy.” Ohana expressed her frustration at the wasted expense of the entire box.

These incidents raise further questions about quality control at the popular warehouse retailer.
