King Charles and Queen Camilla celebrated Easter Sunday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, joined by several members of the royal family.
Noticeably absent were Prince William and Kate Middleton, marking the second year the couple has opted to forgo the traditional service. Last year, their absence was due to Middleton’s breast cancer diagnosis, from which she has since recovered.
Among those present were Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, along with their son James, Earl of Wessex. Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank were also in attendance. Prince William and Kate reportedly spent the holiday in Norfolk with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The royal family’s official Instagram account shared an Easter message: “He is Risen! Wishing a peaceful and happy Easter Sunday to all who celebrate.”
King Charles also issued an Easter message reflecting on the duality of human nature, capable of both great cruelty and kindness. He expressed admiration for humanitarians working in war-torn regions and concluded by wishing everyone a blessed and peaceful Easter.
