Ben Affleck Teaches Son a Valuable Lesson About Hard Work

Ben Affleck, known for his blockbuster roles, recently demonstrated a down-to-earth parenting approach with his 13-year-old son, Samuel. While attending a sneaker convention, Samuel expressed interest in a pricey pair of Dior Air Jordan 1s, costing a hefty $6,000. Affleck, however, refused the purchase, jokingly telling Samuel, “That’s a lot of lawns you gotta mow there.”

The actor later elaborated on his parenting philosophy during an appearance on “Jenna & Friends.” He emphasized the importance of teaching children the value of hard work and earning what they desire.

Affleck recounted his son’s argument, “‘We have the money’,” to which he responded, “‘I have the money. You’re broke.'”

He believes that connecting material possessions to effort instills a stronger sense of meaning and accomplishment.

Affleck’s two older children, Violet and Seraphina, are already gaining work experience. Seraphina has a part-time job, a typical teenage experience, while Violet balances college studies with a part-time job and the search for a summer internship.

Affleck hopes Samuel will learn from his sisters’ examples and understand the connection between hard work and achieving goals. He lightheartedly noted that Samuel is currently “reckoning with that reality” while eyeing his less-than-extravagant shoe collection.

Affleck suggested that if Samuel wants the expensive sneakers, he can work for them – at minimum wage!

Affleck’s own upbringing in a working-class family likely shaped his perspective on earning a living. He worked his way up in Hollywood, starting with small roles and eventually achieving success as an actor and screenwriter. This experience likely reinforces his belief in the importance of hard work and its role in personal growth.
