In a recent YouTube video, Counting On stars Jason and Maddie Duggar revealed they skipped the traditional Duggar courtship and, shockingly, kissed before marriage.
The couple, who wed last October, explained their decision in a Q&A video posted on April 25th. Jason, 25, confirmed they dated without chaperones, striving for wisdom while also acknowledging their autonomy as adults. Maddie, 21, emphasized the importance of mutual accountability within their relationship.
The biggest revelation? They kissed before their wedding day—a departure from established Duggar family norms.
Jason clarified that while he respects his parents’ rules, he and Maddie established their own boundaries. He stated, “I love my parents.
I think they’re great people. But it’s a rule that we set for ourselves.”
Maddie, who comes from a different background than Jason, explained that kissing wasn’t against the rules in her upbringing. The couple discussed their differing perspectives and ultimately chose to kiss before marriage.
Finally, Maddie addressed ongoing speculation, confirming that she is not currently pregnant and that they don’t plan on having children for a while. They’re definitely not aiming for a family of 19 kids, either!
