- Rick Harrison gets nostalgic after ‘Pawn Stars’ guest brought vintage toy cars: ‘I loved these…’ (marketrealist.com)
Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison, known for his tough negotiating tactics, showed a softer side when a guest brought in a collection of vintage 1966 Aurora slot cars. The sight of the cars brought a smile to Harrison’s face, instantly transporting him back to his childhood.
“Are those what I think they are?” he asked, a hint of childlike wonder in his voice.
Harrison reminisced about spending hours with neighborhood friends, connecting their slot car tracks to create elaborate courses in garages. “Every kid in the neighborhood had these…we’d set up in the garage, like, a million sections…It was absolutely great, I loved these things,” he recalled fondly.
The guest, hoping to sell the collection for $320 to buy gifts for his family, had not only the cars but also the guide pins and other accessories. Unsure of the current market value, Harrison called in antique toy expert Johnny Jimenez.
Jimenez, equally captivated by the vintage toys, especially a Batmobile he estimated at $125, noted a resurgence in popularity for these nostalgic items. Adults, he explained, were buying them to reconnect with their younger days.
Jimenez appraised the collection at $350. After some friendly back-and-forth, Harrison and the guest settled on a price of $225, a deal that left both parties satisfied.
