Soap Star Says Goodbye

After a year portraying Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless, Allison Lanier’s final episode aired today. Lanier’s on-screen mother, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), marked the occasion with a touching Instagram tribute.

Stafford praised Lanier’s performance, stating, “You walked into this role and immediately made it your own.” She commended Lanier’s professionalism and talent, adding, “You are an extraordinary actress.

What a pleasure for me to work with you.” Stafford expressed her confidence in Lanier’s future success, concluding with a heartfelt, “Go out there and soar, you gorgeous girl.”

Lanier herself confirmed her departure via social media, thanking Y&R fans for their support and expressing her desire to “grow in a different direction.” Lanier joined the cast in May 2022 and quickly earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2024.

Before joining The Young and the Restless, Lanier appeared in the film It Happened in LA and held a recurring role in the Amazon series Red Oaks. Her other credits include roles in the film Fish Bones and the independent film Mia. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Lanier honed her acting skills at the William Esper Studio in New York City after high school.
