Raccoon Holds Meth Pipe During Ohio Traffic Stop

Additional Coverage:

Springfield Township, Ohio – A traffic stop for a suspended license took an unexpected turn when police discovered a raccoon in the passenger seat, clutching a meth pipe.

On Monday, officers pulled over 55-year-old Victoria Vidal for driving with a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. While Vidal was being detained, an officer returned to her vehicle to find a raccoon, later identified as Chewy, holding a glass meth pipe.

This unusual discovery prompted a search of the vehicle, revealing a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and three used meth pipes. Chewy, thankfully unharmed, became the center of an investigation into Vidal’s activities.

Authorities confirmed that Vidal possesses the necessary permits to own a raccoon in Ohio. The fate of Chewy remains unclear, pending further investigation to ensure proper care and documentation.

Vidal now faces charges including drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. Additional charges related to the crack cocaine are pending lab results and will be presented to a grand jury. She was also transferred to Cuyahoga Falls Police on the outstanding warrant.

The Springfield Township Police Department noted the bizarre nature of the incident, stating, “While our officers are trained to expect the unexpected, finding a raccoon holding a meth pipe is a first!” They reaffirmed their commitment to community safety, regardless of the unusual challenges they may encounter.
