Bad News for 3 Doors Down Fans

Additional Coverage:

3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold announced Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. In a video message to fans, the 46-year-old singer shared that he received the diagnosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma after experiencing some recent health issues. The cancer has spread to his lung.

Despite the difficult news, Arnold expressed courage and optimism, stating that he is not afraid. However, the band will be canceling their upcoming summer tour due to his treatment.

Arnold asked fans for their prayers and expressed his love and appreciation for their support. He even referenced the band’s 2008 song, “It’s Not My Time,” suggesting its newfound personal significance.

Arnold, a founding member of 3 Doors Down, penned the band’s breakout hit “Kryptonite” while still in high school. He remains the sole original member of the Mississippi-based group, which also includes Chet Roberts, Justin Biltonen, Chris Henderson, and Greg Upchurch.

Original member Matt Roberts died in 2016. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of kidney cancer, typically affecting more men than women.
