Ex Manages Fortune After Singer’s Sudden Death

Additional Coverage:

Former One Direction star Liam Payne’s estate will be managed by his ex-partner, Cheryl Tweedy, following his untimely death. Payne, who tragically died in October at the age of 31 after a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, did not have a will. Legal documents reveal his estate is worth $32.2 million, after debts and expenses were settled.

Because Payne and Tweedy’s son, Bear, is a minor, Tweedy will oversee the estate along with music industry lawyer Richard Mark Bray until Bear turns 18. They will act as administrators, meaning they cannot distribute Payne’s assets. Tweedy and Payne were together from 2016 to 2018.

While Payne was dating influencer Kate Cassidy at the time of his death, UK law dictates that the estate goes to the child, and the child’s parent manages it until they reach adulthood. Cassidy has spoken publicly about the tragedy, calling it a “tragic accident.”

Following Payne’s passing, Tweedy requested privacy and reminded the public that Payne was more than just a celebrity; he was a beloved family member and father to their young son.
