Legendary actor Robert De Niro, 81, arrived in Cannes with girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, ahead of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The couple, parents to two-year-old daughter Gia, appeared at a photo call at the Palais des Festivals on Tuesday, May 13. De Niro, looking dapper in a blazer and polo shirt, held hands with Chen, who wore a stylish strapless A-line dress, cream cardigan, and flats.
De Niro will receive the prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or at the festival’s opening ceremony. Longtime friend and collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio will present him with the award. The pair recently starred together in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and first worked together on DiCaprio’s breakout film, This Boy’s Life, in 1993.
“Especially now when there’s so much in the world pulling us apart, Cannes brings us together — storytellers, filmmakers, fans, and friends,” De Niro shared in a statement. “It’s like coming home.”
The festival praised De Niro as a cinematic legend, noting his impactful performances and enduring presence in the world of film.
