Singer Chris Brown Denied Bail in London, European Tour in Jeopardy
R&B artist Chris Brown has been denied bail in London and will remain in custody until mid-June, casting doubt on his upcoming European tour. Brown, 36, was arrested in Manchester, England, on Thursday morning on suspicion of causing “grievous bodily harm.” The arrest relates to a February 2023 incident at a London nightclub.
The charges mirror allegations made by music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw in a civil lawsuit filed last October. Diaw alleges Brown assaulted him with a tequila bottle at the TAPE nightclub in London, causing serious injuries. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, also names Live Nation, Sony, RCA Records, and another musician as co-defendants.
Brown’s upcoming “Breezy Bowl” 20th-anniversary tour was slated to begin in Amsterdam on June 8. However, his next court appearance is scheduled for June 13 in London.
The tour includes dates across Europe featuring Jhené Aiko, Summer Walker, and Bryson Tiller, followed by a US leg starting in July. Three Manchester shows scheduled for mid-to-late June are now in question.
A representative for Brown did not comment on the situation, and Live Nation has not yet addressed the status of the tour.
