Queen Camilla Adopts Adorable New Rescue Puppy, Moley

A heartwarming photo released on the Royal Family’s official Instagram shows Queen Camilla cuddling her new rescue puppy, Moley. The photo features a smiling Queen, dressed in a floral dress and purple cardigan, holding Moley close. The caption introduces Moley as “The Queen’s new much-loved canine companion” recently adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where Her Majesty serves as Patron.

The Queen’s visit to the RHS and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show was also announced in the post. This specially designed garden features dog-friendly areas and a tree for shade.

A unique feature of the garden is a brick path inscribed with the names of dogs belonging to various Radio 2 presenters, RHS ambassadors, and even Monty Don’s beloved dog, Ned. The names of the Queen’s dogs, Bluebell and Moley, will also grace the path, alongside the name of her late dog, Beth, who passed away last year.

King Charles’s dog, Snuff, will also be included.

This adoption follows the sad passing of Beth, another Jack Russell terrier, in November 2024. Queen Camilla had previously spoken about the new addition to the royal family in February, describing Moley as an 8-week-old rescue puppy who “looks just like a mole.”

Both Moley and Bluebell were adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, reflecting the Queen’s ongoing support for the organization. A spokesperson for Battersea confirmed the adoption, highlighting the Queen’s long-standing patronage and previous adoptions of two other rescue dogs.
