Additional Coverage:

Music legend Billy Joel is receiving an outpouring of support, especially from his daughter, singer Alexa Ray Joel, after announcing his diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) and the cancellation of 17 upcoming concerts.

The 76-year-old singer-songwriter is undergoing physical therapy to treat the brain disorder and is determined to make a full recovery. Alexa Ray took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the well-wishes, calling her father “the strongest and most resilient man I’ve ever known.” She also shared lyrics from her own song, a touching tribute to her father and the enduring power of music.

News of Joel’s diagnosis comes shortly before the premiere of a documentary about his life at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, which will later air on HBO. This follows the conclusion of his decade-long monthly residency at Madison Square Garden in 2024, culminating in his 150th performance at the iconic venue. Joel’s extensive catalog of hits includes classics like “Piano Man,” “Uptown Girl,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” and many more.
