Simpson Returns to Stage, Fans Offer Mixed Reviews

Jessica Simpson returned to television for the first time in 15 years, performing on the season 23 finale of American Idol. The singer and fashion mogul took to the stage Sunday night, performing a medley of her 2005 hit “These Boots Are Made for Walking” with former contestant Josh King, followed by her new single, “Blame Me.”

While some fans welcomed Simpson’s return, others offered less enthusiastic reviews of her performance on social media. Some comments on platforms like TikTok criticized her vocals, with one viewer remarking, “I love when singers be like y’all want to hear a key I made up.”

Another commenter simply pleaded, “Someone please make it stop!” One fan, while expressing their love for the star, suggested she “stick to her billion dollar fashion business.”

Simpson herself admitted to feeling the pressure of the performance. Speaking with Extra the day after the finale, she confessed to extreme nervousness.

“Oh, my God, I was dying,” she shared, adding that she resorted to using hairspray on her feet to combat sweating. She revealed her internal struggle to maintain composure, especially upon seeing her father in the audience.

Despite the mixed reception, Simpson appears to be taking the experience in stride.
