Vegas, Baby! Big Winners and Surprises at the 2025 AMAs
The American Music Awards lit up Las Vegas on Monday night, celebrating fan favorites and delivering a few surprises. While Kendrick Lamar led the nominations with a whopping 10 nods, it was Billie Eilish who stole the show, snagging the coveted Artist of the Year and Song of the Year awards for “Birds of a Feather.” Eilish also took home Favorite Touring Artist, Favorite Female Pop Artist, and Favorite Pop Album for “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT,” proving her continued dominance in the pop world.
Lamar didn’t go home empty-handed, securing a win for Favorite Hip-Hop Song with “Not Like Us.” Meanwhile, Post Malone, nominated for eight awards, charmed the country crowd, winning Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song for his collaboration with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help.”
A notable absence was Taylor Swift, who, despite six nominations, skipped the ceremony, dashing fans’ hopes for a “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” announcement.
Jennifer Lopez returned to host the AMAs, bringing her signature sparkle to the stage, and even kicked off the night with a dazzling dance performance. Other performers included Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani, and music legends Janet Jackson and Rod Stewart. Jackson was honored with the Icon Award, and Stewart received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The full list of winners includes some unexpected triumphs. Beyoncé took home Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album for “COWBOY CARTER,” while Eminem dominated the hip-hop categories, winning Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album for “The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s duet, “Die With a Smile,” earned them Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Music Video.
After a two-year hiatus, the AMAs returned with a bang, reminding everyone of the power of fan-voted awards and the enduring appeal of music’s biggest stars.
