Dubai Offers Lindsay Lohan the Privacy and Peace of Mind Missing in Hollywood
Lindsay Lohan is thriving in Dubai. The actress, now 38, recently opened up to Elle about how motherhood and a return to acting are going hand-in-hand, and how her life in Dubai makes it all possible.
Lohan and her husband, Bader Shammas, welcomed their son, Luai, in July 2023. The couple met in Dubai and have been together since 2020.
The actress describes a peaceful daily routine centered around family: journaling, green tea, breakfast with Luai, and Pilates. Maintaining this routine, she says, is crucial, especially as a new mom.
However, keeping a consistent schedule becomes challenging when Lohan is in Los Angeles. The paparazzi, a constant presence in LA, make simple outings like trips to the park stressful.
She contrasts this with the anonymity she enjoys in New York and Dubai. “In New York, there’s no worry; no one bothers us,” she shared, adding that Dubai offers the ultimate trifecta: privacy, peace, and space.
“I don’t have to worry there; I feel safe,” Lohan explained.
Lohan’s move to Dubai in 2014 marked a conscious departure from the Hollywood spotlight and the intense public scrutiny she faced for years. She previously stated that the constant paparazzi attention overshadowed her work, prompting her desire for a more private life. The United Arab Emirates’ strict privacy laws, which prohibit unauthorized photography and videography of individuals, even in public spaces, offer a stark contrast to the paparazzi culture of Los Angeles.
Lohan is not alone in seeking refuge outside of Hollywood. Other celebrities, including Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, have chosen to raise their families away from the relentless glare of the Los Angeles paparazzi.
