Seattle Erupts in Dueling Protests, FBI Investigating Violence

Seattle – Clashes between protesters and counter-protesters have prompted an FBI investigation into alleged targeted violence against religious groups. The escalating tensions began over the weekend when a “Don’t Mess With Our Kids” rally organized by MayDayUSA, described as an evangelical conservative group, sparked a counter-protest. Seattle police reported 23 arrests related to violence at the Saturday event.

Following the initial incident, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell blamed the Christian rally for provoking the violence, alleging that “anarchists” infiltrated the counter-protest. This prompted a Tuesday demonstration organized by Christians at Seattle City Hall, titled “Rattle in Seattle,” which drew its own set of counter-protesters. Eight arrests were made Tuesday evening for assault, although no injuries were reported.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino confirmed via social media that the agency is investigating allegations of targeted violence against religious groups during the Seattle demonstrations, emphasizing the importance of religious freedom.

The organizers of “Rattle in Seattle” criticized Mayor Harrell’s statements, accusing him of religious bigotry and suppressing First Amendment rights. They maintain that they were not responsible for the violence at the Saturday protest, instead blaming Antifa agitators. The mayor’s office also released statements from several local Christian and Jewish leaders condemning the “Rattle in Seattle” organizers and supporting the mayor’s stance.

The situation remains tense as both sides double down on their positions. Seattle police are continuing to monitor the situation, and the FBI investigation is ongoing.
