Haribo Recalls Candy Bags in the Netherlands Due to Cannabis Contamination

Bags of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ candies have been recalled in the Netherlands after traces of cannabis were discovered in some packages. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Agency issued a warning, urging consumers not to eat the 1-kilogram bags of candy, as they may cause dizziness.

While only three bags have been identified as contaminated so far, the agency has initiated a precautionary recall of all Happy Cola F!ZZ stock. An investigation into the source of the contamination is underway in collaboration with relevant authorities.

According to local media reports, a family in Twente became ill after consuming the affected candy and subsequently reported the incident to the police. A forensic investigation confirmed the presence of cannabis, prompting authorities to alert the food and product safety agency.

Haribo representatives have confirmed they are cooperating with authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the contamination. The recall specifically affects products with the production code L341-4002307906 and a best before date of January 2026.
