Fenway Park Stage Collapse Forces Shakira, Aldean Concert Cancellations
Boston – Just hours before Shakira was set to take the stage at Fenway Park on Thursday night, concert organizers announced the show’s cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. The same fate befell country star Jason Aldean’s Friday night performance. Now, reports indicate a stage collapse during Shakira’s rehearsals is to blame.
According to sources, the stage structure “fell apart” during Thursday’s preparations, prompting an inspection by Boston Inspectional Services. The inspection deemed the stage unsafe, leading to the abrupt cancellations. Crews were seen dismantling the damaged structure on Friday.
This isn’t the first setback for Shakira’s current tour. Earlier dates in Lima, Peru and Medellín, Colombia were also cancelled due to the singer’s hospitalization and subsequent stage damage, respectively. More recently, a measles exposure warning was issued to attendees of her New Jersey concert.
The entertainment company behind the Fenway Park shows confirmed the structural issues in a statement, emphasizing that all team members were safe.
Fans expressed their disappointment on social media, with some questioning the frequency of such incidents with major performers. The future of the cancelled concerts remains uncertain, with no official word yet on rescheduling.
The Fenway Concert Series continues through September with a lineup that includes Hozier, The Lumineers, and several other prominent artists.
