Lori Vallow Daybell, also known as the “Doomsday Mom,” was removed from an Arizona courtroom following a heated exchange with the judge during her ongoing conspiracy to commit murder trial.
Already serving three life sentences for the 2019 murders of her two children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow, Vallow Daybell is now facing charges related to the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux, her niece’s ex-husband. She is also awaiting sentencing in Idaho for conspiring to kill her estranged husband, Charles Vallow, and Chad Daybell’s former wife, Tammy Daybell.
Representing herself in the Arizona trial, Vallow Daybell clashed with Judge Justin Beresky after interrupting him to request a hearing regarding character evidence. The judge cautioned her about introducing evidence of good character, warning it could open the door for the prosecution to present rebuttal evidence, including her prior murder convictions. Vallow Daybell responded by accusing the judge of yelling at her, escalating the exchange until Judge Beresky ordered her removal from the courtroom.
Prosecutors allege Vallow Daybell conspired with her brother, Alex Cox, to kill Boudreaux in 2019. Though Cox is believed to have fired the shots, Vallow Daybell is accused of being involved in the plot. She denies these allegations.
This latest trial adds another chapter to the complex and disturbing case surrounding Vallow Daybell. Her beliefs, which included claims that her children were zombies and that she was a goddess tasked with ushering in the apocalypse, have been central to the narrative.
While her defense attorney in previous trials has portrayed her as a loving mother influenced by Chad Daybell’s apocalyptic religious beliefs, the prosecution continues to build its case against her for the multiple murders and conspiracies. Chad Daybell is also awaiting trial on murder charges.
