Steve Harvey Defends Wife on Family Feud

Additional Coverage:

Comedian Steve Harvey, host of the popular game show Family Feud, is known for his quick wit and playful ribbing of contestants. He’s also not afraid to call them out when they go too far. A recent episode showcased both sides of Harvey as he dealt with a contestant who threw his wife under the bus – right after she gave him a sweet compliment.

The question was, “Name a place you are where you hold on tight.” Contestant Lance buzzed in first with “Roller coaster,” securing control of the board for his family.

Fast forward to his wife, Jeni’s, turn. Needing one more answer with only one strike left, Jeni responded with “The bedroom.”

While not on the board, the answer earned a high-five from both her husband and Harvey. The pressure was on Lance for the final answer.

With a chance for the opposing family to steal, Lance declared, “Man, if you’ve ever been in the car with my wife, Steve, then you know. I’m gonna say the car.”

Harvey, initially amused, quickly pointed out the awkwardness of the situation, saying, “Right after you gave him the greatest compliment of all time, he turned around and said don’t ride with her.” The answer was, of course, incorrect, and the opposing family swooped in to steal the win with the correct answer: “Subway.”

This wasn’t the only recent Family Feud moment involving spouses that had viewers talking. In another episode, Harvey posed the question, “What’s the first thing you do when you realize your wife is mad at you?”

One unmarried contestant’s instant response of “Lie” drew roars of laughter from the audience. The contestant quickly clarified his single status, adding, “I’m not married.

So, I mean…I don’t know.” Harvey, momentarily stunned, put his arm around the contestant and said, “Boy, let me tell you something.

You don’t know how real that answer is.” Unfortunately for the contestant, honesty wasn’t on the board in this case.

Fans online loved the exchange, with comments like, “The fact that ‘lie’ isn’t on there shows how many husbands lied about their answer,” and “Youngblood you just stumbled upon an ancient truth.” Clearly, when it comes to marriage and Family Feud, the truth can be funnier than fiction.
