Coach Sanders’ Son Gives Health Update

Additional Coverage:

Coach Prime’s son, Deion Sanders Jr., recently reassured fans during a YouTube livestream that his father is “feeling well” after missing the start of Colorado’s summer football camps. The update comes after a period of relative quiet from Coach Prime, who hasn’t made many public appearances since the 2025 NFL Draft due to ongoing health concerns.

In a late May podcast appearance, Sanders acknowledged his time away from the spotlight, stating he’d lost weight and needed the break. He hinted at an upcoming explanation for his absence, saying, “I’m coming back, but I needed this.”

While his son didn’t elaborate on the specifics of his father’s health, he confirmed that Coach Prime would address the situation publicly soon. There’s no confirmed return date for the Sanders duo to Boulder. Deion Jr. indicated he would remain with his father until he returns to Colorado, saying, “When he leaves, then I’ll go.”

Sanders has faced significant health challenges in recent years, including emergency surgery in June 2023 for blood clots in his legs. He also underwent a toe amputation in 2021 due to similar complications while coaching at Jackson State.

Despite these health setbacks, Sanders has achieved remarkable success in his coaching career. His accomplishments include flipping top recruit Travis Hunter from Florida State to Jackson State, then bringing him to Colorado where Hunter won the Heisman Trophy last season. He also coached his son, Shedeur Sanders, who is now in the NFL.
