TikTok Star Khaby Lame Briefly Detained in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV – Social media sensation Khaby Lame, known for his wordless reactions to overly complicated life hacks, was briefly detained at Harry Reid International Airport on Friday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Lame, whose real name is Seringe Khabane Lame, overstayed the terms of his visa after arriving in the US on April 30th.
Lame, the most followed person on TikTok with over 162 million followers, cooperated with authorities and voluntarily departed the country, avoiding a formal deportation order. This allows him the possibility of returning to the US in the future.
The Senegalese-born, Italian-raised influencer rose to prominence during the pandemic. His silent comedic videos quickly garnered a global following.
Since then, Lame has partnered with designer brand Hugo Boss and was named a UNICEF goodwill ambassador in January. He attended the Met Gala in New York City in early May.
Lame has not publicly commented on the incident.
