Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ex-girlfriend, testifying under the pseudonym Jane, offered further explosive testimony this week in the rapper’s ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering trial.
Jane’s testimony centered on Diddy’s alleged drug use and what she termed “sobriety parties.” She told jurors Diddy proposed one last such party before a planned 30-day period of sobriety, despite allegedly using ecstasy and cocaine during the event. Jane estimated the party lasted between 12 and 18 hours.
She expressed concern for Diddy’s health, stating she “really wanted [him] to get clean and just get better,” and described seeing him “excessively partying” and taking numerous pills daily.
Jane also detailed Diddy’s alleged insistence on “hotel nights,” where she claimed she was expected to engage in sexual acts with other men while he watched. She testified that Diddy used the words “voyeurism” and “escapism” to describe these alleged fantasies. She further claimed he controlled her social media presence, demanding she delete posts that included him.
The court heard testimony regarding an incident where Jane was allegedly upset after seeing another of Diddy’s girlfriends post a photo wearing a necklace that matched Jane’s bracelet. Text messages between Jane and Diddy were presented as evidence of the ensuing argument. Jane characterized the “hotel nights” as “emotionally excruciating” and said seeing other girlfriends’ social media posts was “really hurtful.”
Diddy’s attorney, Teny Geragos, cross-examined Jane, focusing on the nature of their relationship, the “hotel nights,” and Diddy’s alleged drug use. The cross-examination grew heated when Geragos questioned Jane about money and gifts she received from Diddy.
Jane retorted, “How much does my body cost?” when asked about the price of designer handbags.
She later apologized to Geragos for the outburst.
Jane testified she knew of Diddy’s drug use when their relationship began, but claimed she wasn’t aware of the extent of it. She recounted a trip early in their relationship where she noticed Diddy’s jaundiced appearance, gray gums, and shaky hands, prompting her to suggest rehab. She testified Diddy responded with, “What the h—, you think I need rehab?”
Prior to the cross-examination, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy’s second request for a mistrial, which was based on allegations of false testimony presented by the prosecution. The judge ruled there was no interference and that the defense had sufficient opportunity to challenge the witness’s credibility.
