Milwaukee – Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski blazed through five no-hit innings in his major league debut Thursday night, baffling the St. Louis Cardinals and electrifying the home crowd.
The 23-year-old fireballer consistently hit triple digits on the radar gun, reaching a scorching 102.2 mph, the fastest pitch by a Brewers starter since 2008. While his night ended early due to cramping in his right leg, the young pitcher and the Brewers organization breathed a sigh of relief as the injury appears minor.
Misiorowski, seemingly unaware of the no-hitter in progress, dominated Cardinal batters with a mix of blistering fastballs, sliders, and curveballs. He struck out five and walked four, showcasing the raw talent that made him a top pitching prospect.
The only thing that could stop him, it seemed, was his own body. In the sixth inning, after an awkward landing on the mound, Misiorowski left the game with what the team later described as cramping in his right calf and quadriceps.
Despite the abrupt exit, Misiorowski remained upbeat, assuring reporters post-game that he was “all good.” He admitted to some pre-game jitters, saying, “I thought I was going to give up a few hits, get your ‘welcome to the show’ kind of experience.” Instead, he delivered a performance that far exceeded even his own expectations.
While the Brewers couldn’t hold on to the no-hitter, with Willson Contreras breaking it up with a single in the seventh, the focus remains on Misiorowski’s health and electrifying debut. Manager Pat Murphy praised the young pitcher’s composure and performance, while teammate Aaron Ashby expressed confidence in Misiorowski’s future.
The rookie himself is looking forward to a good night’s sleep after admitting he hadn’t slept for two days leading up to his debut. Brewers fans, no doubt, are equally excited to see what he does next.
