A security guard shot and killed a gunman who opened fire at Crosspoint Community Church in Wayne, Michigan on Sunday morning. The incident occurred shortly after the start of the 11:15 a.m. service.
According to Wayne Police, the suspect drove a truck into the church before starting to shoot. One person suffered a leg wound and was treated by first responders.
The church’s security guard engaged the shooter, ultimately killing him. Police confirmed the suspect was deceased upon their arrival. The area around the church was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene.
While initial reports suggested multiple injuries, authorities have only confirmed the single leg wound at this time. The FBI has joined the investigation to assist local law enforcement.
