Washington — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer experienced a brief health scare Wednesday morning, prompting a short hospital visit for dehydration. The 74-year-old New York Democrat was working out at the Senate gym when he felt lightheaded. This occurred during an extreme heat advisory in Washington.
A spokesperson for Schumer’s office stated that the Senator went to the hospital “out of an abundance of caution” and is now back at work in the Capitol. The spokesperson also relayed a message from Schumer, reminding everyone to stay hydrated and avoid excessive heat.
