- Sabrina Carpenter releases alternate album cover after online backlash: ‘approved by God’ (nbcnews.com)
Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has unveiled a new album cover for her upcoming release, “Man’s Best Friend,” following online controversy surrounding the original artwork.
The new cover, revealed by Carpenter on Instagram, features a black-and-white image of the 26-year-old artist in a slow dance with a suited man. The photograph evokes a classic image of Marilyn Monroe dancing with her then-husband, playwright Arthur Miller. Carpenter playfully captioned the image, stating the new cover was “approved by God,” seemingly referencing the backlash against the original artwork.
The initial cover art, which Carpenter debuted earlier this month, depicted the singer kneeling on the floor while a man held a lock of her hair. While some fans praised the image as daring, others criticized it as “disgusting” and “disturbing.” One commenter even admitted to feeling “secondhand embarrassment.”
Carpenter previously responded to the criticism on social media, assuring a detractor that she does, indeed, have a personality “outside of sex.”
“Man’s Best Friend” is set for release on August 29, 2025.
