Beach Boys Legend Brian Wilson Dead at 82

Los Angeles, CA – Brian Wilson, the creative genius behind the Beach Boys, passed away on June 11th at the age of 82. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has determined his cause of death to be respiratory arrest.

Sepsis, cystitis, chronic respiratory failure, chronic kidney disease, a neurodegenerative disorder, and obstructive sleep apnea were all listed as contributing factors. An autopsy was not performed.

Wilson’s family confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement earlier this month, requesting privacy as they grieved. The music icon had been under conservatorship since last year following a dementia diagnosis and the death of his wife, Melinda.

The conservatorship, overseen by longtime family representatives, was put in place to ensure his well-being and the stability of his household. According to court documents, Wilson faced challenges managing his medication and regulating his moods and emotions.

Wilson’s musical legacy is undeniable. The Beach Boys, formed with his brothers Carl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine, became one of the most successful bands of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide and securing a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. From “Good Vibrations” to “God Only Knows,” Wilson’s innovative songwriting and harmonies shaped the sound of a generation.
