Jayne Mansfield: A Look at the Hollywood Icon’s Family and Tragic Death

Following Mariska Hargitay’s recent revelations about her childhood, interest in her mother, 1950s Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield, has been renewed. Here’s a closer look at Jayne’s life, her children, and the tragic accident that cut her life short.

A Star’s Family Life: Jayne Mansfield was more than just a “blonde bombshell.” The actress and model navigated a complex personal life, including multiple marriages and several children. Her daughter, Mariska Hargitay, offered a glimpse into this life in the 2025 documentary My Mom Jayne.

Jayne’s Children: Jayne had five children in total. She shared her eldest daughter, Jayne Marie, with her first husband, publicist Paul Mansfield.

Sons Miklós “Mickey” Jr. and Zoltán Hargitay were born during her marriage to Mickey Hargitay, though it was later revealed that Mariska Hargitay, also born during this marriage, was fathered by Nelson Sardelli. Finally, Jayne’s youngest son, Antonio “Tony” Cimber, was from her marriage to Italian film director Matt Cimber.

A Tragic End: Jayne Mansfield’s life was tragically cut short in a car accident in New Orleans on June 28, 1967. She, her partner Sam Brody, their driver, and two of their dogs were killed instantly when their car collided with a tractor-trailer. Three of Jayne’s children, who were also in the car, survived with minor injuries.

Where Are They Now? Jayne Mansfield’s legacy lives on, most notably through her daughter Mariska Hargitay, the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Jayne Marie also followed in her mother’s footsteps, becoming an actress and model. Jayne’s other children have largely remained out of the public eye.
