Princess Kate Opens Up About Cancer Treatment Aftermath

London — The Princess of Wales spoke candidly on Wednesday about the challenges she faced following cancer treatment last year. During a visit to a hospital in Essex, Kate described the period after treatment as unexpectedly difficult.

The Princess, 43, revealed her cancer diagnosis in March of last year and underwent chemotherapy following major abdominal surgery. After completing treatment in September and announcing remission earlier this year, she is gradually returning to her public duties.

“You put on a brave face during treatment,” Kate shared with hospital staff, patients, and volunteers. “Then, when it’s finished, you think you can just get back to normal. But the aftermath is really difficult.”

She stressed the vital need for post-treatment support, noting that even when no longer under direct medical care, patients can struggle to resume their normal routines at home. The Princess described the entire experience as a “rollercoaster” and a “life-changing” event for both patients and their families.

Although Kate has been increasingly active in her royal role, she missed last month’s Royal Ascot, with sources citing the need to pace herself following her treatment.
