Michael Madsen, known for his iconic tough-guy roles in films like Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, has died at 67. The actor was found unresponsive in his Malibu home on July 3rd.

A representative confirmed to Fox News Digital that the cause of death was heart failure, with heart disease and alcoholism listed as contributing factors. Madsen’s cardiologist signed the death certificate, precluding the need for an autopsy.

Beyond his celebrated work with Quentin Tarantino, Madsen had been actively involved in several independent film projects, including Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. He was also working on a new book, Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems.

Those close to Madsen expressed their grief. “Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many,” shared his managers and publicist.

Actress Vivica A. Fox, who co-starred with Madsen in Kill Bill, offered her condolences, calling him a “talented man with an AMAZING on-screen presence.”

Madsen’s career spanned decades, from early roles in television series like St. Elsewhere and WarGames to memorable parts in films such as The Natural, Thelma & Louise, and Sin City.

Reflecting on his career in a 2018 interview, Madsen acknowledged the double-edged sword of fame, noting that while he often played intimidating characters, his off-screen life was far more ordinary. He cherished his role as a father and husband, enjoying quiet evenings at home with his family.
