The ongoing legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over their French winery, Château Miraval, continues to escalate. Pitt initially sued Jolie in 2022 after she sold her stake in the vineyard to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, Tenute del Mondo. He alleges the sale violated a previous agreement between the two.
Pitt’s legal team recently filed a motion to compel a deposition from Stoli Group executive Alexey Oliynik and to obtain communications between Oliynik and Jolie related to the sale. A source close to the case stated that the Stoli-affiliated entity has been avoiding the deposition. If the judge grants Pitt’s motion, Jolie’s text messages could become part of the legal record.
Oliynik has reportedly refused to participate in the deposition, citing Swiss citizenship and foreign laws.
The former Hollywood power couple purchased Château Miraval in 2008 and were married at the estate in 2014. Jolie’s 2021 sale of her stake in the winery to Tenute del Mondo effectively transferred her 50% ownership. Pitt contends this breached a contract between them.
Jolie’s company, Nouvel, has countered, accusing Pitt of a “vindictive campaign” to “loot” the profitable business since their 2016 divorce filing. Nouvel claims Pitt “hijacked” Château Miraval and wasted company assets on frivolous renovations.
While the winery dispute continues, Pitt and Jolie recently reached a settlement agreement in their protracted divorce, which was finalized in December 2024. The divorce proceedings began in 2016 after an alleged incident of violence involving Pitt and the couple’s children on a private jet.
Jolie’s lawyer stated that the actress is “relieved this one part is over” and has been focusing on “peace and healing for their family.” A court date for the winery dispute has yet to be scheduled.
