Southend Airport Closed After Plane Collision
London Southend Airport is closed following a serious incident involving a small plane on Sunday afternoon. Essex Police confirmed they are on scene responding to reports of a collision involving a 12-meter aircraft around 4 p.m. local time. Emergency services, including multiple ambulances and air ambulances, are present, and the response is expected to continue for several hours.
The airport has been closed, and all flights are cancelled until further notice. Passengers scheduled to travel through Southend Airport on Monday are advised to contact their airlines for updates.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area. Nearby Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club have been evacuated as a precaution.
Zeusch Aviation, the operator of flight SUZ1, confirmed its involvement in the incident and stated it is cooperating fully with the investigation. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has dispatched a team to the site to determine the cause of the accident.
