Fall River Assisted Living Home Engulfed in Flames

A fire ripped through the Gabriel House, an assisted living facility on Oliver Street in Fall River, Massachusetts, Sunday night. Firefighters arrived on scene around 10 p.m. to find the building engulfed in flames and immediately began rescuing residents. Dramatic footage shows crews breaking windows and carrying residents down stairs, while thick smoke billowed from the structure.

The Fall River Fire Department reported “heavy fire showing and multiple rescues in progress” upon arrival. The number of injuries and the cause of the fire are currently unknown.

The Gabriel House, which offers 100 single-bed units, is now the focus of an investigation. The Massachusetts Fire Marshal is en route to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the blaze. Further details will be released as they become available.
