Pizza-Faced Pitch Lands Brothers $120,000 “Shark Tank” Deal
Brothers Andy and Eric Bert weren’t prepared for quite the reception they received on “Shark Tank” while pitching their Bertello Pizza Oven. While seeking $120,000 for a 10% stake in their company, a demonstration went hilariously wrong when Eric was unexpectedly smacked in the face with a pizza – by his own brother! The brothers touted their oven’s versatility, claiming it can run on wood, coal, or gas, offering a significant upgrade over frozen or homemade pizzas cooked in conventional ovens.
The pizza-to-the-face moment, however, left some sharks less than impressed. Lori Greiner, after witnessing the saucy mishap, declined to offer a deal.
Barbara Corcoran, initially enthusiastic about the product and the brothers’ energetic presentation, expressed concern over the post-pizza incident, questioning if Eric was still recovering. Despite her reservations, Corcoran offered $120,000 for 25% of the company.
Just as the brothers considered a counter-offer, Kevin O’Leary jumped in, sensing the potential of the Bertello oven. He initially asked for 30% of the company, but after some negotiation, agreed to match Corcoran’s 25% offer.
The brothers accepted, leaving Corcoran visibly annoyed. She expressed her frustration, even calling one of the brothers “low energy,” and jokingly wished O’Leary bad luck with his investment.
The Bertello brothers, despite the unexpected twist in their pitch, walked away with a $120,000 deal, proving that sometimes, even a pizza to the face can be a recipe for success.
