Sandra Oh Defends Stephen Colbert Amidst “Late Show” Cancellation

Actress Sandra Oh voiced her support for Stephen Colbert and outrage over the cancellation of “The Late Show” during her Tuesday night appearance on the program. Oh expressed sorrow and frustration, stating the cancellation reflects poorly on the current cultural climate and free speech.

She offered her condolences to Colbert and his team, and didn’t hold back her criticism of CBS and Paramount, wishing them ill. Colbert thanked Oh for her kind words.

While CBS claims the decision was purely financial, the cancellation followed Colbert’s recent criticism of Paramount’s $16 million settlement with former President Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview. This settlement coincided with Paramount’s pursuit of a merger with Skydance, which requires approval from the Trump administration.

Other late-night hosts have also spoken out, including Jon Stewart. During his Tuesday episode, Stewart acknowledged corporate fears but reminded networks that their value is built on shows willing to take a stand. He argued that attempting to avoid controversy by becoming bland will only lead to declining viewership.
