Tragedy at Dillon Falls: Two Victims Identified, Search Continues for Third

Bend, Oregon – Authorities have released the names of two victims in Saturday’s tragic accident at Dillon Falls: Amanda Lloyd, 40, of Rockwall, Texas, and Lindsay Bashan, 33, of Parkland, Florida. Lloyd had recently celebrated her 40th birthday on July 16th. One individual remains missing, and search efforts are ongoing.

The accident occurred when a group of six people, floating on interconnected inner tubes, were swept over the falls. Three individuals managed to escape to shore with minor injuries. The other three, including Lloyd and Bashan, were pulled into the treacherous rapids.

Dillon Falls, located approximately 10 miles from Bend, is known for its dangerous conditions, including a 15-foot drop and turbulent whitewater littered with debris. Signs warn those recreating on the river to exit upstream of the falls.

Recovery teams, including divers, specialized aircraft, and K9 units, continue to search for the missing person. While the sheriff’s office spokesperson, Jason Carr, previously stated the missing individual is presumed dead, the search continues. The sheriff’s office commended the dedication and professionalism of the search and rescue teams under these difficult circumstances.

The names of the three survivors are being withheld out of respect for their privacy. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area to facilitate search operations.
