Caught on the Kiss Cam and Out of a Job: Two Executives Resign After Coldplay Concert
A viral “kiss cam” moment at a Coldplay concert has led to the resignation of two executives at a New York-based data company, Astronomer. The incident, which unfolded at a show in Massachusetts, involved Astronomer’s CEO, Andy Byron, and Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, who were shown on the stadium’s big screen. Lead singer Chris Martin playfully teased the couple for hiding their faces, speculating they were either shy or having a secret affair.
A video of the encounter quickly spread across social media platforms like X and TikTok, with online detectives swiftly identifying the couple. Astronomer initially placed Byron on leave pending an investigation, but he resigned shortly after. Cabot’s resignation followed soon thereafter.
The company has appointed co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy as interim CEO. DeJoy acknowledged the unexpected attention the company has received, noting on LinkedIn that the situation has been “unusual and surreal,” but adding that it has inadvertently made Astronomer a “household name.”
The incident even prompted a playful warning from Chris Martin at a subsequent Coldplay concert in Madison, Wisconsin. Before activating the “kiss cam,” Martin jokingly cautioned the audience, seemingly referencing the earlier awkward encounter. Neither Byron nor Cabot have responded to requests for comment.
