Tragedy Strikes Hersheypark as Child Dies After Water Park Incident
Hershey, PA – A heartbreaking incident at Hersheypark has left the community in mourning. A 9-year-old child died Thursday after an incident at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark water park.
According to Hershey Entertainment CEO John Lawn, lifeguards noticed the child in distress and immediately initiated rescue efforts. On-site first responders and medical personnel joined the lifeguard team in providing continuous life-saving measures.
The child was transported to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, but tragically, despite the tireless efforts of all involved, did not recover.
The cause of the child’s death remains undisclosed as investigations are underway. Hershey Entertainment has pledged a thorough internal review and full cooperation with authorities.
Derry Township police confirmed their assistance in the investigation, offering condolences to the grieving family and friends. The Dauphin County coroner’s office declined to comment.
Hersheypark CEO John Lawn expressed his deepest sympathies to the child’s family and emphasized the park’s commitment to guest safety. He stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and the park will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of all visitors.
