Could Prince William be adding another little one to his godchild roster? The Duke and Duchess of Westminster recently welcomed their first child, a daughter named Cosima Florence Grosvenor, born on July 27th. An official statement confirmed both mother and baby are doing well and the family is enjoying this special time together.
Given the close ties between the royal family and the Grosvenors, speculation is swirling about potential godparent choices. Prince George counts the Duke of Westminster as one of his seven godparents, leading many to believe the favor might be returned with Prince William being chosen for baby Cosima. Interestingly, the Duke is also godfather to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie.
The connection between the families runs deep. King Charles is actually the Duke of Westminster’s godfather, solidifying the long-standing friendship. Prince William is certainly no stranger to the role, already serving as godfather to Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark, Tom Pettifer, and Grace Van-Cutsem.
While Prince William seems a likely choice, some wonder if Prince Harry might also be asked. Royal babies often have multiple godparents, as evidenced by Prince George’s seven. Along with the Duke of Westminster, George’s godparents include Zara Tindall, Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, and William van Cutsem.
Following royal tradition, baby Cosima is expected to be christened within the next six months.
