Wrestling Legend Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 71
The world of professional wrestling is mourning the loss of a true icon, Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea), who passed away unexpectedly earlier this week at the age of 71. Hogan’s larger-than-life persona and charismatic performances captivated audiences for decades, earning him two inductions into the WWE Hall of Fame and legions of fans worldwide.
Florida authorities suspect cardiac arrest as the cause of death, though Hogan had reportedly been dealing with various health issues in recent months. He is survived by his wife, Sky, and his two children, Nick and Brooke.
Longtime friend and colleague Eric Bischoff shared the heartbreaking way he learned of Hogan’s passing. While preparing to call Hogan’s son, Nick, Bischoff saw a news report on Fox News, featuring a clip of the two men from a recent interview.
The suddenness of the news and its public nature left Bischoff reeling. In the days following, he described the experience as surreal, noting the ubiquitous presence of Hogan in the media further amplifying the sense of loss.
Hogan’s wife, Sky, shared a touching tribute on social media, expressing her devastation and remembering Hogan not as a global icon, but as her beloved husband, Terry. She spoke of his strength and her belief that they would overcome his recent health challenges, highlighting the sudden and unexpected nature of his passing.
Hogan was married twice before his marriage to Sky. His first marriage, to Linda Claridge, lasted 26 years and produced two children, Brooke and Nick.
He later married Jennifer McDaniel, a union that ended in divorce in 2021. Hogan married Sky in a private ceremony in Clearwater in 2023.
