Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy Huxtable alongside Malcolm-Jamal Warner on “The Cosby Show,” paid tribute to her late co-star by sharing a video of him playing bass guitar at Atlanta’s City Winery. Warner, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable, tragically drowned while swimming in Costa Rica a week before Pulliam’s post. He was 54.
“A week ago I lost my big brother but I gained an angel,” Pulliam captioned the video, adding a heartfelt message: “I love you… I miss you. We got our girls.”
Pulliam joins several other “Cosby Show” alumni in mourning Warner, including Bill Cosby, Geoffrey Owens, and Raven-Symoné. Cosby recalled Warner’s dedication to his craft, telling CBS News how the young actor was always prepared and comfortable on set. Owens, who played Elvin Tibideaux, described Warner as a “sweet and sensitive soul” with a deep love for creative expression.
Warner was vacationing with his family when he was caught in a strong current. Costa Rican Red Cross officials confirmed that another swimmer was also caught in the current but survived. Sadly, Warner was found without vital signs.
The entertainment world also mourned the loss of the actor, director, and Grammy-winning musician. Tributes poured in from figures such as Morris Chestnut, Tracee Ellis Ross, Viola Davis, Niecy Nash, and Beyoncé.
Pulliam expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received. A tribute event will be held at City Winery in Atlanta on Wednesday, with proceeds going to Warner’s wife and daughter.
