- ‘Price is Right’ contestant ignores the audience’s advice and ends up losing car worth $71,000 (marketrealist.com)
Talk about a near miss! A “Price is Right” contestant recently came this close to driving away in a brand new Audi, but ultimately went home with a different kind of haul.
After making her way on stage, the contestant faced the Golden Road game. This challenge involves guessing missing digits in the prices of increasingly lavish prizes.
First up was a set of paper clips (priced at 94 cents), the digits of which would be used to unlock the price of a laptop. Heeding the audience’s advice, she correctly guessed “9,” scoring the laptop and moving on to the next prize – a complete bedroom set.
Again, the audience steered her right, and she nailed the price of $5,692.
With two prizes under her belt, the contestant faced the final challenge: a shiny new Audi worth over $71,000. The price displayed read “71_87.”
The crowd overwhelmingly yelled “two,” but the contestant decided to trust her gut, choosing “six” instead. Unfortunately, the crowd had been right, and the Audi remained just out of reach.
Despite missing out on the car, the contestant walked away with a brand-new laptop and bedroom set – not a bad consolation prize! This just proves that while the “Price is Right” audience can be a valuable asset, sometimes it’s best to trust your own instincts.
