Carrie Underwood Finds Scary Spider on Farm

Additional Coverage:

Country music star Carrie Underwood isn’t afraid of much, whether it’s belting out a high note or facing down a creepy crawly. The singer and American Idol judge recently shared a series of photos on her Instagram story showcasing her garden bounty, including a close-up encounter with a large black spider. The arachnid, bearing a distinctive red hourglass marking, appeared to be a black widow, a spider known for its venomous bite.

While black widow venom is rarely fatal to humans, it can cause significant pain and nausea. Underwood, however, seemed unfazed, continuing to share photos of her impressive garlic harvest and other scenes from her 400-acre family farm near Nashville, Tennessee.

This isn’t Underwood’s first brush with nature’s less glamorous side. Earlier this summer, the Oklahoma native documented a hasty retreat from a swarm of bees in her orchard. From award-winning performances to farm-fresh produce and the occasional spider encounter, it seems there’s never a dull moment in Carrie Underwood’s world.
