Birmingham Mourns Ozzy Osbourne, City’s Tributes to be Given to Family
Birmingham is paying tribute to its late, great son, Ozzy Osbourne. Following the heavy metal legend’s passing on July 22nd, the Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street has become a focal point for mourners, overflowing with flowers, messages, and other mementoes.
Earlier today, Birmingham City Council carefully collected the tributes. These tokens of affection will be preserved and ultimately given to the Osbourne family. The family visited the bench on Wednesday to lay their own flowers amidst a grieving crowd.
The council stated that the items will be stored securely and respectfully, in accordance with the family’s wishes, before being passed on to them “as a lasting reminder of the public’s affection and support.”
The Osbourne family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love, saying they were “deeply moved” by the tributes at both the Black Sabbath Bench and the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street. Their statement, released through the city council, concluded with a poignant “BIRMINGHAM FOREVER!” echoing Ozzy’s deep connection to his hometown.
Kelly Osbourne recently shared a heartfelt message on social media, thanking fans for their support during this difficult time. She acknowledged the power of shared memories and compassion in helping the family cope with their grief.
