Rome witnessed a massive gathering of faith this past weekend as over one million young Catholics converged for the Jubilee of Youth, responding to Pope Leo XIV’s call to service.

Addressing the vast crowd at Tor Vergata, the pontiff declared, “My young brothers and sisters, you are the sign that a different world is possible,” urging them to choose dialogue over discord.

Father Michael Tidd, headmaster at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, commented on the Pope’s powerful message, noting its resonance with the young audience. In an interview, he stated that Pope Leo’s strength lies in his willingness to pose challenging questions and inspire young people to live their faith more authentically, focusing on the well-being of others.

Father Tidd highlighted the Pope’s unique communication style, describing it as natural and engaging, avoiding a lecturing tone and instead opting for a warm and wise approach. He likened the Pope to a coach, encouraging and motivating the youth to deepen their relationship with Christ and extend that connection to others.

The Jubilee weekend included a Saturday prayer vigil where the Pope engaged in a Q&A with young pilgrims, culminating in a Sunday mass. The event underscored Pope Leo XIV’s commitment to fostering unity and inspiring the next generation of Catholic faithful.
