Breaking News: Arrest Made in Tennessee Family Murder Case
ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir interrupted his broadcast last night to report a major development in the gruesome Tennessee murder case that has gripped the nation. An arrest has been made in the slaying of a family of four and the subsequent abduction of their infant child.
Muir briefly summarized the situation, noting the suspect had been seen on security camera footage and turning the coverage over to reporter Trevor Ault.
Ault provided further details, explaining that Austin Drummond, 28, was apprehended after a six-day manhunt. He was found hiding in the woods near Jackson, Tennessee, having previously been spotted in a vacant building carrying a rifle and wearing camouflage. While authorities believe Drummond knew the victims, a motive remains unclear.
Drummond is facing four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and weapons charges. The victims have been identified as James M.
Wilson, 21; Adrianna Williams, 20; Cortney Rose, 38; and Braydon Williams, 15. The infant, who was found abandoned on a stranger’s lawn, is related to the victims.
Prior to Drummond’s arrest, three other individuals – Giovonte Thomas, 28; Tanaka Brown, 29; and Dearrah Sanders, 23 – were arrested and charged as accessories after the fact to first-degree murder. Brown also faces a charge of tampering with evidence.
